Postcard from Pitcairn Islands ...
The Pitcairn Islands form a group of four volcanic islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. The islands are a British Overseas Territory (formerly a British colony), the last remaining in the Pacific.
A big thank you to my friend Giovanni :-)

50 Years of WWF ...
Merci Daniel Collon for this special cover, sent from La Chaux-de-Fonds :-) La Chaux-de-Fonds is located in the Jura mountains at an altitude of 1000 m, a few kilometers from the French border. After Geneva and Lausanne, it is the third largest city in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. This city is famous for its watch-making industry and was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2009.
What began as a mission to save the panda has become a wider quest to save the world's wildlife, and this year the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) [formerly named the World Wildlife Fund] celebrates its 50th anniversary.
In 1961, species such as pandas, polar bears, black rhinos and elephants were in danger of extinction. Determined to avert such disasters a group of conservationists including Sir Peter Scott and Sir Julian Huxley moved to act against an "orgy of thoughtless and needless destruction" of the world's wildlife. The result was the birth of the WWF.
